Elderberry - Adams Elder

Adams Elder, Sambucus canadensis 'Adams', is a broad rounded shrub with white flowers. It blooms in June, followed by clusters of blue to black berries in August. The berries are excellent for making pies, jam and wine. This deciduous, upright shrub grows to 12' tall and wide. It is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Water regularly and do not overwater since it requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between waterings. A vigorous productive plant, it is only partially self-fertile and so needs a pollinator. Fruit set is improved when more than one cultivar is planted. It can tolerate atmospheric pollution. ... find out more
