Iris Chrysographes The Iris chrysographes, 'Iris', is a sumptuous iris with deliciously fragrant, dark violet blooms, often with yellow streaks on the falls. Its velvety petals on this striking black iris contrast beautifully with the sword like foliage. This is a truly black iris that is as velvety ebony as a moonless midnight in summer. It has rigid spreading standards with deep, pendulous falls. Mix them into border gardens where their fragrant blooms can be admired. Iris chrysographes grows well in moist, even in wet soils; making them especially good for problem areas. Flowers early summer and makes a stunning bouquet.
Peony Tree Shimane Island Collection These Tree Peonies display huge, ruffled, satin-like flowers that are super hardy! Every garden needs a tree peony. There was a time, many years ago in ancient China, when the only person who could own a tree peony was the Emperor himself. There are very few plants that can compete with a tree peony in full bloom. They flower from late April to early May but the flowering season does vary from year to year. A mature plant can have in excess of a hundred flowers and these can be 10" or more across! Daylily Stella De Oro The Hemerocallis ‘Stella de Oro’, also known as a Daylily, has a very fragrant dark yellow flower with a size of 2. 5”. With dark green foliage, this daylily will reach a height of 12” and a plant spread of 12-24”. ‘Stella de Oro’ will bloom from May through July, with outstanding color and a definite re-bloomer, more than any in its family. ‘Stella de Oro’ is considered to be pest and deer resistant. Use for cut flowers, massing, edging, borders or in mixed containers and tubs.
Gladiolus Blue Isle Plant in groups of six or more in the garden, or grow lots of them for cuttings in a bed. To extend the time of flower availability of your Glads, plant in two week intervals from early spring through June. Glads are easy to grow and like to be in full sun and in well drained soil. Increase water and fertility when flowers begin to develop, then plant 4" deep in clay soils, 6" deep in others; the deeper the planting the less need for staking. In frost prone areas, dig them when the leaves turn yellow, dip them in a fungicide, and store in a dry frost free location over winter.
